  • Annual Conference: The Consortium's flagship event is an annual conference that brings together HBCU students, faculty, and professionals from the data science community. The conference features keynote speakers, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.
  • Professional Development Workshops: The Consortium offers workshops on topics such as data visualization, machine learning, and data ethics to help members develop their skills and knowledge in data science.
  • Webinars: The Consortium hosts webinars on a regular basis that cover a variety of data science topics and feature industry experts as speakers.

Data Science for Cybersecurity

Join us for an engaging summer workshop at the University of New Haven from August 4–8, 2025, focused on integrating data science into cybersecurity education. This workshop offers stipends of $500, $750, or $1,000 based on travel distance and is designed for those interested in teaching or learning about cybersecurity and data science to become leaders in the field.

Participants will explore topics such as malware detection with machine learning, cyber forensic analysis with deep learning, cloud attack mitigation using reinforcement learning, and more. Steven D. Cook is a Research Directorate Academic Partnership Advocate/Protagonist. Steven D. Cook has over 40 years of experience in the National Security Agency’s (NSA) primary functional area, enabling a competitive advantage for the Nation and our allies technically and analytically. He is a proud alum of North Carolina A&T State University and a Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated life member.

Karen D. Presley is the Deputy Director of the Office of Research and Technology Applications at the National Security Agency (NSA) where she leads a team of technology transfer (T2) professionals that create partnerships to accelerate the exchange of expertise between NSA and other government agencies, academia, and industry.
